🔵What is View from the Bridge and why did I start it?🔵
Chelsea are crazy club so I want to bring some normality to the scene
Chelsea are a noisy club. They are loud, busy, and quite frankly exhausting to follow.
It’s a Chelsea thing, after all.
There are so many highs but also some pretty hard hitting lows (especially of late). Keeping up with them is incredibly rewarding but also tiresome.
That is where I come in.
Modern football is full of misinformation, agendas, clickbait, and hidden narratives. As a consumer of social media, I see it all the time.
But with View from the Bridge, I want to save you time scrolling and reading all the mini non-updates from ITKs on Twitter (now X) so that you can enjoy the actual fandom part more.
There are no ads here, it’s totally free, and you don’t have to do anything (other than subscribe!) to get it sent to your inbox.
With twice weekly roundups of Chelsea as a whole, from men’s press conferences, transfer news, match recaps and the latest on the next generation coming through Cobham and the pride of women’s football at Kingsmeadow with CFCW. View from the Bridge is aiming to bring it all straight to you so that there is no need to go looking.
I see this as a real opportunity to take a step away from how media is consumed and produced. With readers at the heart of this, it’s a unique chance.
Football clubs are for fans. They are a fans’ passion. That should never be lost. I want to keep all of that going with a View from the Bridge community fostering your involvement.
Who am I?
I’m Tom Coley. I'm a senior football writer for football.london and I have followed Chelsea for over 16 years. That may not be long in the grand scheme of things but I came into football relatively late.
My first two memories of football were watching Florent Malouda’s stoppage time winner against Stoke City for Chelsea on Match of the Day on a random Sunday morning in September 2009, and then Didier Drogba’s header to equalise in the FA Cup final a few months earlier.
I also remember my brothers reacting to the drama of the 2008 Champions League semi-final second-leg against Liverpool when on holiday. I was too young to really understand it at the time.
I don’t have a massively romantic backstory with football or Chelsea - my brother was born in Slough, had a friend who supported Chelsea, and got in that way, I followed him sometime later - but I do have a huge passion for the game and also this crazy club.

I have been writing about Chelsea for almost a decade now and I’m lucky enough to call what was once my hobby, a profession.
I have spoken to Chelsea players, managers, and legends (including Joe Cole, a personal favourite), whilst making regular trips to Stamford Bridge for work and for fun.
Those of you online might have come across me and my ‘really bad opinions’ on Twitter. I also really like cricket (although I can’t play it to save my life) and squash.
You might see patches of me in the newsletter but mainly it’s going to be Chelsea news and roundups.
Thank you for joining me on this journey✌
